This competition is open only to PAGC First Nation Members or permanent employees of the Prince Albert Grand Council.

The Prince Albert Grand Council is now accepting applications for the position of a Full-time Justice Worker for Southend, Peter Ballantyne First Nation.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Prince Albert Grand Council Justice Rural Co-coordinator, the successful applicant’s responsibilities will be to:

  •  Assist Aboriginal accused to understand their rights, options and responsibilities including court procedures before the criminal courts.
  • To provide liaison services between accused & those involved in the administration of criminal justice.
  • To assist in enhancing the awareness & appreciation of those in the criminal justice system to Aboriginal traditions, values, customs, languages & socio-economic conditions.
  • To assist the client to obtain legal advice.
  • To do alternate measures including mediation and formal cautions.
Qualifications

The successful applicant must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess a Sask. Driver’s license, transportation and willingness to travel. Knowledge of and sensitivity towards Aboriginal cultures and traditions is an asset for this position.

Ability to speak Cree would be an asset.
