FSIN Chief Lawrence Joseph Assigns Executive Portfolios


On November 2, 2006, FSIN Chief Lawrence Joseph issued a challenge to all governments and institutions as he unveiled his new executive team of Vice-Chiefs and their portfolio assignments.

“We will challenge all governments, institutions and entities armed with rock-solid research executive will use this research to formulate solutions and we will co-operate with and government in the spirit of mutual respect,” said Chief Joseph.

Chief Joseph and his executive consulted with Saskatchewan Chiefs to decide how the portfolio areas would be assigned and emphasized the message he received from Saskatchewan Chiefs during the election campaign asking the executive to work as a team for the betterment of all First Nations people. He stressed that every member of the executive would be involved in treaty implementation because it is a top priority for the FSIN.

- International Affairs, Government of Canada, Government of Saskatchewan
- Office of the Treaty Commissioner
- First Nations Women’s Commission
- Indigenous Gaming Regulators
- Veterans and Senate
First Vice-Chief Morley Watson:
- Economic and Employment Development
- Housing and Public Works
- Gaming Jurisdiction
Second Vice-Chief Guy Lonechild:
- Health and Social Development
- Urban Development
Third Vice-Chief Glen Pratt:
- Finance and Revenue
- Justice
- Lands and Resources
Fourth Vice-Chief Lyle Whitefish:
- Education and Human Resource Development
- Culture, Youth, Sports and Recreation
